Description

Malayer rugs were woven in and around the small town of Malayer, located in-between larger northwestern Iranian (Persian) cities of Hamadan and Arak. While they feature characteristics consistent with other Hamadan province styles – single-wefted construction, wool and cotton construction – Malayer carpets reflect the mixing pot of their influences from nearby rug-making cities. Varied designs can include striking anchored medallion motifs, or quiet repeating patterns paired with richly detailed borders. Such village-constructed rugs are most often found in runner, scatter rug, and gallery sizes. Larger room-sized rugs were likely woven on commission. Malayers’ soft coloration and charm have made them a recently beloved choice for designers and homeowners alike. Pattern, color variation, and signs of wear with vintage items is normal. Care

STAIN PROTECTION: For customers seeking the maximum protection of their investment, we recommend a professional application of Ultra-Guard's Fabric Protection solution. This in-home service is available nationwide for a wide range of furniture. For your convenience, we have enabled it to be selected at the time of your rug purchase. CLEANING: All rugs are professionally cleaned prior to shipping. To maintain its condition, vacuum with suction only (no bristles). Spot clean with mild detergent and water only. If spot cleaning does not remove a stain, we recommend a professional cleaning. Never use a carpet cleaning machine to clean a vintage rug.

STORING: Always roll rugs when stored (folding for an extended time can weaken the rug's backing and cause the rug to stretch). Store in a dry environment.

Shipping

Orders of in-stock and vintage rugs are shipped within 2-3 days (Monday-Friday) of order placement, unless Ultra-Guard Fabric Protection add-on services are selected. Rugs ordered through our made-to-order collections will ship according to the lead times quoted at the time of purchase. Orders which include Ultra-Guard Fabric Protection treatment will be shipped within 5-7 business days (Monday-Friday) of order placement, to allow sufficient time for rugs to be treated and to dry thoroughly. All orders are shipped via UPS or FedEx Ground. All orders will require signature at the time of delivery.

Returns

Due to the one-of-a-kind and custom nature of our products, all sales are final. All products from Passerine's Vintage Rugs collection are vintage or antique. Vintage products are worn in nature, and may contain blemishes. While every effort is made to photograph repairs and/or signs of age, we consider these details part of what gives each product its one of a kind appeal, and therefore cannot be considered defective.
