DESCRIPTION: Bakhtiari rugs are tribal rugs that were characteristically woven for use by the tribe or by commission among the wealthy and powerful within Persia. Because they were rarely produced for export before the 1930s, oversized Bakhtiari rugs like this one offer lanolin-rich, extremely durable wool and luminous colors, which were procured through a thorough knowledge of dyeing, using natural vegetable dyes. A rug of this size and complexity reflects the handiwork of a group of highly skilled weavers and dyers, and regularly would have taken as much as six years to complete. This rug has been antique washed.
We recommend using rug pads to extend the life of all Passerine rugs. Add a custom-sized rug pad to your order using order add-on the drop down above.
